Because it’s one of life’s most celebrated events, we recognize the importance of family unity during the childbirth process. And, we believe in and respect a woman’s individuality and the right to make choices. We’re also there to assist expectant parents in understanding and coping with the stresses of giving birth, and the transition into parenthood. Our staff is dedicated to providing families with a supportive and personalized childbirth experience by practicing family-centered maternity care.

Labor and Delivery Room Suites

The philosophy of family-centered care has inspired the option of a Labor Delivery Recovery (LDR) birthing room. LDR birthing suites allow mother, support person and baby to stay together in a warm, home-like environment throughout labor, delivery and recovery. Labor, Delivery, Recovery and Postpartum, or LDRP, birthing suites currently available at Doctors Hospital, allow you to deliver in one suite and maintain that room during the entire stay.

With these concepts, the equipment and staff move, not the mother. And should your baby need critical care, remember that The Medical Center serves as one of only six regional perinatal centers in Georgia, entrusted with the care of infants from 21 counties in southwest Georgia and Lee and Russell counties in Alabama.

Located in the West Georgia city of Columbus, Columbus Regional was established in 1986 as a not-for-profit health services organization, but its roots can be traced back to 1836 when the local hospital was a small wooden building on the banks of the Chattahoochee River.
