Spine Center

Eight of ten Americans will experience a lifestyle-altering episode of back pain at some point in their lives. Ninety percent of single episodes of back pain become recurrent. While certain diseases and traumatic injury can cause back pain, research shows that the most common causes of back pain or injury are: poor physical condition, poor posture, improper body mechanics, and the prolonged repetitive use of incorrect bending or lifting techniques. At the Hughston Spine Center, preventing and providing relief for back pain and spinal disorders is one of our specialties. It is one of the few select facilities in the United States and internationally with the skill, education and expertise to offer the most advanced techniques in spine treatment and surgery.

Treatment plans are tailored to meet the specific needs of each patient. The Hughston Spine Center is staffed by highly skilled physicians dedicated to providing state-of the-art clinical care for adults or adolescent patients with various conditions affecting the neck or back.

The Spine Center’s Back Pain Evaluation Program

The Back Pain Evaluation Program is designed for patients who need a diagnostic procedure, like a myelogram, to pinpoint the exact location of their back pain. Your physician determines which procedure is best for evaluating your back pain. During your visit at the Spine Center, a nurse will facilitate your evaluation and upon completion, the results of your assessment will be reviewed by your spine physician in order to formulate a plan for treatment.

The Back Pain Evaluation Program available at Hughston Hospital is like no other offered in the area. You will experience our reputation for providing excellence in patient care while relaxing in a therapeutic, spa-like setting where your needs are catered to for your entire evaluation. You may also take advantage of our concierge program to make your stay with us even more comfortable. Details about our concierge amenities are located in your notebook.

Your physician will provide you a Back Pain Evaluation notebook to help you prepare for your diagnostic procedure. This binder conttains all the paperwork needed during your evaluation.

As the region's leading provider of healthcare, Columbus Regional Healthcare System has touched the lives of most of the children and adults in this region through its comprehensive network of services. Located in the West Georgia city of Columbus, Columbus Regional was established in 1986 as a not-for-profit health services organization, but its roots can be traced back to 1836 when the local hospital was a small wooden building on the banks of the Chattahoochee River.
