Laboratory Services

Laboratory Services at The Medical Center include both Laboratory Medicine and Surgical Pathology.

Accredited by the College of American Pathologists, The Medical Center Laboratory is a full-service lab which provides a wide range of services including:

  • Hematology
  • Chemistry
  • Immunology
  • Microbiology
  • Surgical Pathology
  • Blood bank

Staffed 24 hours a day, the Laboratory has a cooperative agreement with Lab Corp, one of the world's largest clinical laboratories, to provide their laboratory testing in the area. All lab technicians are advanced Medical Technologists and a staff of five board-certified pathologists is available to consult on patient diagnosis and testing.

The Medical Center Department of Pathology is a full service department offering Clinical Laboratory and Surgical Pathology services. The department provides service in all aspects of the practice of pathology, including:

  • Autopsy
  • Clinical Chemistry
  • Hematology
  • Microbiology
  • Transfusion Medicine
  • Cytopathology
  • Surgical Pathology

Each area is staffed by a well-trained technical team and supervised by certified pathologists. The laboratory serves a critically important role in inpatient diagnosis, clinical assessment and treatment of inpatients and an extensive number of outpatients.

The Department of Pathology is accredited by the College of American Pathologists and licensed by the Georgia Department of Human Resources and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
 
Laboratory services are available for pediatric patients at The Medical Center.
