Maternal-Fetal Medicine Center

The Columbus Regional Maternal-Fetal Medicine Center offers an array of diagnostic and perinatology services, with outpatient services provided in a relaxed, comfortable and convenient location near The Medical Center on the Columbus Regional campus. Inpatient care is provided at The Medical Center.

Antepartum (pre birth) testing consists of a variety of tests performed from early through late pregnancy to verify fetal well-being. Tests are performed so the parent and the physician can be aware of any problems that may require further testing or, in some cases, immediate delivery. Antepartum tests are usually done in pregnancies at high risk for fetal complications.

Appointments and Hours of Operation
We work by appointment to make sure that your visit with us is as pleasant and convenient as possible.

Please call the Center at 706-571-1285 to schedule your appointment.

If you are unable to keep a schedule appointment, please call us to cancel at least 24 hours in advance. We ask that patients traveling from outside of the colubus area arrive 30 minutes before the scheduled appointment, and in-town patients arrive 15 minutes prior, as unexpected delays do occur. We will make every effort to inform you of any delays to your appointment time. Be aware that your appointment may take up to an hour or longer, depending upon the nature of your testing.

Payment and Billing
Our fees are based on the time and skills required for each procedure, and payment is expected at the time of your visit. If you have commercial health insurance, we will file your insurance claim and accept assignment of your insurance. You simply pay the deductible and co-payment required by your plan at each office visit. We accept most forms of insurance, excluding Alabama Medicaid. Please call prior to your appointment to confirm that we can accept your form of insurance, and please bring insurance and identification cards with you when you arrive for your appointment.

Visitors
In the interest of patient confidentiality and the comfort of other patients, we ask that no more than two people accompany you on your appointment. Testing frequently takes up to an hour or more, so please keep this in mind if you must bring small children with you.

As the region's leading provider of healthcare, Columbus Regional Health has touched the lives of most of the children and adults in this region through its comprehensive network of services. Located in the West Georgia city of Columbus, Columbus Regional was established in 1986 as a not-for-profit health services organization, but its roots can be traced back to 1836 when the local hospital was a small wooden building on the banks of the Chattahoochee River.
