Natural Childbirth Classes

10 classes
Meets once a week for 10 weeks (various days & times)

This series of 10 (2 1/2 hour) classes prepare a mother and her support person for the goal of natural childbirth. As instructors, we believe in the natural childbirth principles taught us by Dr. Michael Odent, Ina May Gaskin (midwife), Drs. Kennel and Klaus, Dr. Ferdinand Lamaze, Dr. Robert A. Bradley in his classic book, "Husband Coached Childbirth", and many other birth professionals.

Included in the series is support and instruction for the active participation of mom and her partner as support, good nutrition for the healthiest pregnancy possible, relaxation and natural breathing as pain management tools, breastfeeding as ideal infant nutrition and good communication with your healthcare providers. A comprehensive workbook is provided for each couple and classes are small to insure individual attention. Please register to begin classes by your 6th month. Register early; classes may be canceled if minimum registrations are not met by registration close date. You may register and pay later to hold your space.

The Natural Childbirth Series should be scheduled to begin from 16-24 weeks of pregnancy. If the class is taken early, couples are welcome to return to the next series for no additional charge as a refresher until the baby is born. If you have special circumstances, please call us at 706-494-4361 for guidance.

** Again, please register early - classes under a certain participant level may be canceled.**

*Instructors certified in Natural Birth Techniques

As the region's leading provider of healthcare, Columbus Regional Healthcare System has touched the lives of most of the children and adults in this region through its comprehensive network of services. Located in the West Georgia city of Columbus, Columbus Regional was established in 1986 as a not-for-profit health services organization, but its roots can be traced back to 1836 when the local hospital was a small wooden building on the banks of the Chattahoochee River.
