How to Apply for Alabama Medicaid

Application can be completed either:

In person:

    Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS)

    Health department

    Social Security Office

By Mail:

Download and mail applications to your county DFCS

The Medical Center has dedicated Financial Resource Specialists to assist you with the completion of all financial assistance applications.

***If you are pregnant and meet all eligibility requirements you are entitled to receive Medicaid coverage the same day you apply. If you are 65 years or older, blind, or disabled please contact the Social Security office to apply for Supplemental Security Income (SSI). If you are approved to receive SSI you will automatically be granted Medicaid coverage.
