Children’s Miracle Network
Since its founding in 1983, the Children’s Miracle Network has raised more than $2 billion on behalf of its alliance of 174 non-profit children’s hospitals. As a member of this alliance, The Medical Center has been the recipient of every dollar raised locally, and as a result, has benefited from more than $3 million to date.
Through these funds, The Medical Center is able to treat all children regardless of a family’s ability to pay, as well as provide state-of-the-art equipment and services to children of all ages and needs in the region.
Annual contributions have increased steadily and last year alone CMN raised more than $600,000. Local support remains strong through the efforts of:
• Key corporate sponsors who work year-round raising one dollar at a time for children in need
• Columbus Regional Employee Giving Campaign and Miracle Friday
• The Medical Center Auxiliary
John B. Amos Cancer Center
Evidence of a generous community is apparent at the John B. Amos Cancer Center where thousands upon thousands have experienced more attentive care, greater access to advanced treatments and markedly improved experiences made possible through the fundraising and volunteer efforts of the Columbus Regional Medical Foundation. The Celebrity Classic, a premier fundraising event in the spring, raises hundreds of thousands of dollars annually for the Cancer Center.
In October 2007, a gala celebrated the spirit of compassion and generosity that led to the success of the $20 million Together We Can campaign to build and equip the John B. Amos Cancer Center, which opened in 2005.
Celebrity Classic
Columbus Regional Medical Foundation is host for the annual Celebrity Classic Golf Tournament, Tennis Tournaments, 5K/10K Runs, and Wheels to Heals Bike Ride. Since its inception in 1996, the Celebrity Classic has grown to become one of the region's premier fundraising events. Funds raised this year during the Celebrity Classic will support the oncology program at the John B. Amos Cancer Center. For information and how to participate, volunteer or become a corporate sponsor for the Celebrity Classic, contact Jennifer Johnson at (706) 660-6204.
Tree of Light
The Tree of Light serves as The Medical Center Auxiliary’s annual giving program. Since its inception in 1980, more than 4,500 people have donated over $250,000 to support a variety of projects. In 1988, with a strong commitment to the hospital’s smallest patients, The Medical Center Auxiliary pledged to contribute all money subsequently raised through the Tree of Light program to the hospital’s High Risk Nursery.
Tree of Light proceeds help provide much needed equipment to The Medical Center’s High Risk Nursery, one of only six such regional perinatal units in Georgia, which in turn provides life-giving support for critically ill babies.
Each year The Medical Center Auxiliary celebrates the Tree of Light with a tree lighting ceremony on the front lawn of The Medical Center. Each light on the tree symbolizes a donation given in memory of or in honor of an individual or group. For more information or to make a donation, please call the Auxiliary at 706-660-1482.
Palliative Care Program
The goal of palliative care is comfort. Palliative care is the study and management of patients with active, progressive, far advanced disease for whom the prognosis is limited and the focus of care is quality of life. Palliative care treatment does not preclude aggressive treatment and addresses the physical, intellectual, emotional, social and spiritual needs of the patient and their loved ones. At Columbus Regional, our mission is to promote the health and healing of our patients.
Through our Palliative Care Program, caregivers help alleviate the pain associated with serious, life-limiting acute and chronic illness. For more information about the Palliative Care Program, contact Paige Harford at 706-571-1721.To make a donation in support of this program, call the Columbus Regional Medical Foundation at 660-6115.
Advancing Healthcare through Scholarships
