Your First Appointment

Your initial visit with us is designed to provide the information your doctors need to plan your treatment. Here are some important things you’ll want to remember as we take this first step together:

  1. First, a Patient Scheduling Services representative will call you to confirm the date and time of your first appointment. You’ll then be transferred to a pre-registration representative to schedule your pre-registration appointment.

  2. Your first appointment will take longer than your following appointments, taking possibly two or more hours to complete.

  3. And if you like, you may want to bring a family member or close friend.

  4. Upon your arrival, please check in at the following areas: Medical Oncology, Gynecologic Oncology or Radiation Oncology.

  5. Your initial appointment is an important first step on your survivor journey, and it’s an opportunity for you and your family to ask questions of your oncology team and learn how our dedicated staff can serve you.

  6. We’re prepared to travel with you and your family each step of the way.

You’ll also be developing new friendships as you become familiar with our staff, other patients, and the many services and departments within the John B. Amos Cancer Center, so when your treatment course is charted, you’ll be provided with the education and resources you need for each phase of your journey.
