Clinical Research Trials

When diagnosed with cancer, it’s important to become aware of the treatment options available. According to the National Comprehensive Cancer Network guidelines (available at www.nccn.org), the first and foremost treatment option for every new cancer patient should be enrollment in a clinical trial.

In the past, patients had to travel, sometimes extensively, to gain access to new therapies available in clinical trials. One of the benefits of receiving care at the John B. Amos Cancer Center is that you may be eligible to participate in a clinical trial using new and promising drugs and therapies.

Every patient is evaluated before his or her first appointment for possible participation in a trial, which is voluntary, and patients may leave a trial at any time.

Information on clinical trials is available from your treatment team or the manager of clinical research at (706) 660-6404.
