Maternity Care

The Columbus Regional Maternal Fetal Medical Center offers an array of Diagnostic and Perinatology Services, with outpatient services provided in a relaxed, comfortable and convenient location on the Columbus Regional campus, and inpatient care provided steps away at The Medical Center.

Professional Staff
Robert Stauffer, M.D., is Medical Director of the Maternal Fetal Medical Center, and is also Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is a Board Certified Perinatologist with extensive experience in the field. Dr. Stauffer is supported by a staff of highly trained clinicians, including a full-time genetic counselor, registered nurses (all of whom are registered medical sonographers), as well nurses with special certification in obstetrics.

Appointments and Hours of Operation
We work by appointment to make sure that your visit with us is as pleasant and convenient as possible. Please call the Center at 706-571-1285 to schedule your appointment.

If you’re unable to keep a scheduled appointment, please call us to cancel at least 24 hours in advance.

We ask that patients traveling from outside of the Columbus area arrive 30 minutes before the scheduled appointment, and in-town patients arrive 15 minutes prior, as unexpected delays do occur. We will make every effort to inform you of any delays to your appointment time. Be aware that your appointment may take up to an hour or longer, depending upon the nature of your testing.

Payment and Billing
Our fees are based on the time and skills required for each procedure, and payment is expected at the time of your visit. If you have commercial health insurance, we will file your insurance claim and accept assignment of your insurance. You simply pay the deductible and co-payment required by your plan at each office visit.

We accept most forms of insurance, excluding Alabama Medicaid. Please call prior to your appointment to confirm that we can accept your form of insurance, and please bring insurance and identification cards with you when you arrive for your appointment.

Visitors
In the interest of patient confidentiality and the comfort of other patients, we ask that no more than two people accompany you on your appointment. Testing frequently takes up to an hour or more, so please keep this in mind if you must bring small children with you.
