Support Groups

Support groups provide emotional encouragement for people who share the same set of circumstances. The value of support groups has been shown to benefit patients, and families, through faster recoveries and increased well-being.

One of the following support groups may be just the one you need to help you better understand and cope with your condition.

Next Step Cancer Support Group
For patients, family members, friends and community

For women treated for gynecological cancers.

Man to Man Prostate Cancer Support Group
Man to Man is a support group which focuses on men who have had experience with prostate cancer, either their own or a family member or friend. This support group, which previously met at the American Cancer Society, now meets at the John B. Amos Cancer Center. Carl Burrell, care coordinator at the John B. Amos Cancer Center, leads this group.

Reach out Breast Cancer Support Group
For women who have had breast cancer, those
recently diagnosed, long-term survivors,
as well as family members and friends.

For brain injury patients and their families.

For people who are living with emphysema or other
Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Diseases (COPD).

 Diabetes Support Group
A support group for adults with diabetes

2nd Saturday of each month
11 a.m.-12 p.m.
Columbus Regional Conference Center at The Medical Center

Preceding the diabetes support group, an educational diabetes class is held from 9-11 a.m. for both adults and children, focusing on the basics of living with and managing diabetes. Call 706-660-6400 to register.

 New Moms Nursing Support Group
A support group for new breastfeeding moms.

LaLeche League Meeting
A mother-to-mother breastfeeding support group, facilitated by a trained LaLeche League leader. All nursing mothers and babies are welcome.
